What Is a “Guild”?

A guild is like a little plant village built around a central tree. The tree is supported by a mix of companion plants—some fix nitrogen, some attract pollinators, others hold moisture, shade the soil, or keep weeds in check. Every plant has a role, and together they help the whole system thrive.

Once established, these mini-ecosystems mostly take care of themselves. But in the first couple years, they need a hand: keeping weeds at bay and making sure they get enough water. That’s about it!! And as they mature, you’ll see (and taste, and smell, and feel) all the ways they give back.

So c’mon—adopt a guild!

It’s easier than feeding your friend’s cat.

Your guild just needs one visit a week, whenever it works for you, and only two things: water and weeding. Give the plants a drink, keep the weeds at bay, and that’s pretty much it.

Some guilds have trees, some don’t—either way, they’re young planting areas that need a little extra love in their early years.

Wanna toss in a garden gnome? Add a plant (after checking with us)? Decorate with some homemade labels? Go for it. It’s your little patch to tend and have fun with.

Got commitment issues? No worries. Just give us a heads-up if you can’t make it, and we’ll fill in the gaps.

Adopting helps spread the care and gives our plants a strong start. Over time, your guild will grow, bloom, and produce plants that we can divide and share.

We—and they—really appreciate it.
